A software development team needed a streamlined project management tool where UX writers and administrators could create and assign tickets to developers. Off-the-shelf tools were either too complex or didn't support the specific role-based workflow they required.
Goal
Create a custom project management platform with role-based permissions that allows different team members to create, assign, and track development tickets through their lifecycle.
What I built
- Designed the data model in DynamoDB to support projects, tickets, users, and role-based permissions with efficient query patterns
- Built a React-based kanban board interface with drag-and-drop ticket management and real-time status updates
- Implemented role-based access control separating UX writers, administrators, and developers with appropriate permissions for each role
- Created an AWS-backed API layer using Lambda functions for ticket CRUD operations, assignment workflows, and notification triggers
Outcome
Shipped a production-ready project management tool that improved team coordination and ticket visibility. The role-based workflow reduced miscommunication between UX writers and developers, and the streamlined interface improved ticket throughput across the team.
